The village of Vineland is an unincorporated
community in the Niagara peninsula. It’s location between
the shores of Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment provides
a micro-climate suitable for the growing of grapes and other
tender fruit. Vineland’s crops include apples, peaches,
pears, cherries, plums and apricots as well as many varieties
of grapes.
Vineyards and wineries dot the countryside
making Vineland a one day tourist destination for many Toronto
residents.
Vineland
Estates Winery

can lay claim to having one of the best locations for growing
grapes. The slopes of our new vineyards are perfect for our
recent plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc,
Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc vines, imported directly from French
nurseries.
Vineland’s biggest event is a large
craft fair that takes place over four days on the Canadian
Thanksgiving weekend, with vendors selling their wares on
the Main Street and at Balls
Falls. Many of the residents of Vineland are descendants
of the original German immigrants, who pioneered this region
in the mid 1700’s. A centuries-old Mennonite cemetery
is located on the corner of Regional Road 81 (former provincial
highway 8) and Martin Road.
